Renowned socialist Robert Reich is at it again, trying to convince the naive that Universal Basic Income (UBI) has been proven to work. In his video, “The Truth about Guaranteed Income,” Reich cites an experiment in Stockton, CA as evidence that unconditional cash payments are the key to alleviating poverty.

However, Reich ignores one important point. The Stockton experiment was funded voluntarily through the Economic Security Project. What then does this have to do with a nationwide, federal UBI funded through compulsory taxation?
